Teacher at Heart
I’m on year three of not being in the classroom, which has the nostalgia in full force… I’ve long forgotten the struggle of leaving the house before my kiddos woke up each morning. The lack of potty breaks for the teacher and parents insisting they “never see this behavior at home” are a distant memory. While I don’t miss any of that, I do miss the connections with the kiddos, bringing and sharing the joy of the holidays/seasons, working with the parents to level up wherever possible and the PRIDE on a kiddo’s face when she realizes she CAN do something she assumed she’d never be able to do.
What better way than to handle the prep and planning for the classroom teachers?
Between work, volunteering and parenting, I constantly look for ways to not only maximize my time, but also everybody else’s…especially the teachers.
This year, I’m bringing back a classroom favorite and packaging it up beautifully for all of the room parents and teachers that want to take advantage of this FREE resource… Video Tutorial INCLUDED! It’s an activity pack that merges learning with FUN and perfect for Grades 3-6.
REMEMBER: This is supposed to be FUN! I recommend giving students time to work on the trivia questions solo, with a partner… or even in teams. Tell students they just need to do their best and answer whatever questions they can… leaving the tougher ones blank. Once students have about 15 minutes to answer the questions, spend the next 15 minutes going over the correct answers. After each correct answer is discussed, have the students write that answer anywhere they want on the blank BINGO card! … before you know it each kiddo has his/her own unique BINGO card and is ready to play!
BONUS: Get some conversation hearts or Valentines m&m’s to use as the counters… or KEEP IT SIMPLE and have your kiddos take out a crayon to mark each call out. I have my game in THREE rounds so there’s no reseting the cards AND we get THREE winners. Round 1: 5 in a row / Round 2: FOUR corners / Round 3: Perimeter of the BINGO card (all four sides)
